If you are looking for a beautiful, (inexpensive) do it all horse trailer, your search is over. Anyone familiar with horse’s or horse trailers will know – Sooner has been in the game for decades. Known for their extreme durability and quality craftsmanship, Sooner trailers are one of the most highly regarded and highly sought after pre-owned horse trailers you can find. For a 13 + year old unit – this is probably THE cleanest you will Ever Find!! The tack room is in great shape, showing only minimal signs of use. Inside the rear horse area, you will find only a few imperfections in the rubber matting. Otherwise – it looks perfect and functions like brand new. The overhead hay rack allows you to carry additional feed or supplies while on those long highway trips. Inside the tack room is a nice 6 cubic foot storage box with sealed top and seat pad. The gooseneck jack pin works as good as new, as do all of the lights & trailer brakes etc. If you have been looking for that perfect horse trailer, but are not looking forward to dropping loads of money – your search is over.
Exterior:
The main color is white, with medium blue stripes and the authentic (S) for Sooner situated in the middle rear of either side. To access the tack room, you must enter from the driver’s side. Once inside, you will appreciate the spacious cabin, offering plenty of room to move around – hang out – or sleep if so desired. When entering the tack room, located immediately to the right, you will find the saddle holder rack – offering the ability to store 4 saddles. Across the back short wall, there is a bridle rack, allowing you to store ropes, reigns, whips, straps, or anything else (horse related) for that matter. Serving as a step to the upper bunk cabin, underneath is a 6 cubic foot storage box, which also serves a seat with black seat pad cushion. This trailer also comes with 3 feed bags, allowing you to hang them in front of each horse stall with feed. At first we removed the feed bags and placed them inside the storage box inside the tack room. After about an hour, we HAD to remove them as it began to stink up the cabin. As a result, we cleaned them out and hung them in the rear of the trailer. To access the horse cabin, you can enter through the rear (of course), or through the passenger’s side door. This can also serve as an exit for the horses to walk out the front, instead of backing up and out the rear. One additional nice feature is in the rear cargo doors. To make life easier on your horses, the rear doors also serve as a load ramp. Simply open both upper cabinet style doors, then drop the lower section like a ramp. This allows your horses to ease themselves into the trailer, rather than having to step up and into the trailer. Trust us…………….. your horses will thank you!!! Or, if you happen to have a quad, ATV or utility vehicle, you can easily ride up and into the trailer.
Interior:
As mentioned above, the tack room is accessed through the door located on the drivers side. Once inside, you will appreciate the spacious tack room and roomy over cab sleeper space. Inside the rear horse area, the configuration is for 3 horses on a slant load configuration – hence the term (3 horse slant). Of course there are 3 drop down windows, allowing your horses to enjoy the view as well, with backup cage windows behind. Surely I am probably leaving a number of things out, so hopefully the photo’s will help to better describe the interior features in detail. If not, just let us know and we will try our best to answer any questions you may have.
Flaws:
Being a 13+ year old trailer, normal scratches, nicks, dings and/or scuffs should be expected. In looking closely, we were not able to find any significant items to note. About the only thing we would like to mention is in the rear horse area. On a few spots, there are some small wear holes and a number of various scuffs and imperfections in the rubber matting. Located inside the front horse stall, there is a piece of rubber flooring missing – approx 1 to 2 square feet in size, located on the left lower side wall. How this came about, we have no idea as the trailer was like this when we bought it. Keep in mind, these are extremely minor items, so there’s nothing to worry about. The trailer still functions perfectly and is in NO WAY in need of repair. Just wanted to point it out before someone decides to bid. If you would like to replace the mats, I’m sure it could be done relatively inexpensive. One last thing to note. The tires are mix-matched. The 2 front tires are a different brand from the 2 rear. I would assume the previous owner probably replaced 2 at one time, leaving the others. If you plan on driving in from a reasonably far distance – we will gladly negotiate having a brand new set of 4 tires installed for you if so desired. This should ensure you will have full peace of mind on your drive home.
